Online Photo Exhibition on China’s Foreign Assistance

China has always upheld the spirit of internationalism and humanitarianism as a developing country. Under the framework of South-South cooperation, China has done what it can to provide assistanceto over 160 countries and international organizations without any political conditions, contributing to international development cooperation, which has won extensive acclaim from the international community, especially from other developing countries.


The construction of themunicipal water supply facility maintenance project in Zambia was built withChinese aid and completed in October 2008. The project solves the drinkingwater problem for 120,000 residents in the three cities of Lusaka, Ndola, and Kitwe.


Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China has entered a new stage so far as its foreign assistance is concerned. Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward building a community with a shared future for humankind with the Belt and Road Initiative, advocating the principle of upholding justice while pursuing shared interests, the principle of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith, and the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness. China announced a series of foreign assistance measures at international occasions such as the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, sharing Chinese wisdom and solutions for global development problems and promoting the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Such initiatives are a direct representation of China's sense of responsibility as a major power.


China held the Zanzibar Hospital ManagementOverseas Training Program in Zanzibar, Tanzania in September 2017.


China actively participatesin emergency humanitarian assistance and global health services.China’s foreignassistance is also focused on climate change as well as the development in infrastructure,industry,agriculture, education, and public utilities. China is willing to share development experience and practical technology with developing countries, andsupport the United Nations and other international organizations to carry out multilateral assistance.

The foreign aid provided in response to COVID-19 in 2020 is the most intensive and extensive emergency humanitarian assistance China has provided since the founding of the People’s Republic. China has sent medical supplies to more than 150 countries and ten international organizations. Meanwhile, China has made the COVID-19 vaccine a global public commodity and has provided vaccine assistance to 80 countries and three international organizations.


In response to the emergency humanitarian demandsof South Sudan, the Chinese government and the World Food Program launched anemergency assistance program. The handover ceremony of the program was held inJuba, the capital of South Sudan, in June 2017.


China has explored foreign assistance with Chinese characteristics over the extraordinary past 70 years.It is a path of friendship and mutual cooperation, setting a good example for South-South cooperation.
